Passion driven by information
Information is my passion. Through skills & education I protect it, through passion I can educate others to do the same.

Information and education have become my passion. I was thrust into a real world fight for access to information with library, and through my education I've grown a sense of duty to protect community. A way I can easily do that even now is educating people how to protect themselves and identify scams. Thus I love giving basic cyber talks!
On a personal front, I survived covid; I am not sure how. So now I am out to live my best life. Which includes learning anything anyone is willing to teach me. I wish I have more hours in the day to read. I am a cat person but I still consider every dog a puppy and I can't talk gaming unless it's retro (N64 anyone?) And my caffeine of choice is Mt. Dew, but I won't turn down a Coke.
In the end my goal is to inspire people to consider CyberSecurity even if it seems scary, or out of their reach. Because as my mentor kept telling me, Cyber needs people like you and there is a place for everyone! I summarize that into 'Security is a team sport'.
Access to information brought me into the center of a local/national debate. I did it not for the glory of myself but to protect a public infrastructure that insures our community has access to the information and resources they need. Censorship of publicly available information goes against everything, we, as a country, stand for. I respect the rights of people to decide what materials are right for them, but I understand that if we start silencing one group it won't stop there. The freedom of speech is in the first amendment for a reason.
I would also like the say that what happened with Samuels Library was a community effort, a diverse community being there for our library when they needed us. I thank each and every person who spoke with courage and professionalism befitting of the institution we love. I can never say thank you enough, nor can I say how unbelievably brave and strong the staff were through this time.
Librarians are super heroes. If you wish to learn more - click here.
